Brainspotting for Trauma and Narcissistic Abuse
How Brainspotting for Trauma Can Help The Structured Recovery Protocol™Start Your Recovery
Brainspotting is a
LIBERATING modality…
Brainspotting for trauma is a powerful, brain-body based healing modality that accesses the deepest regions of the brain where you store your traumatic experiences as well as your infinite capacities for expansion.
It works by identifying, processing and releasing the core and deeply embedded trauma.
The symptoms of unprocessed trauma are highlighted and reinforced in the relationship with the pathological narcissist, and leave heightened levels of pain (emotional and physical), anxiety, rumination, brain fog and severe cognitive dissonance (It’s my fault/It’s not my fault, “I love them/I hate them”) and, we stay trauma bonded to the pathological narcissist – in some cases, even decades after the relationship has ended. We must heal the cognitive dissonance to dissolve the trauma bond.
These symptoms are extremely difficult to eliminate through talk therapy. Verbal engagement does not reach the deep regions of the subcortical brain and body, where traumatic experiences are held.
Brainspotting is subtle and effective. Results may vary with each individual.
It can be a subtle experience or a profound one. You bring the frame of your experience and we work together to address it.
The intention is to process out the stored traumatic energy in your body
You will feel calmer, with no more panic attacks, more yourself, more grounded, less brain fog, less stress, less anxiety, clearer mind, not so fearful, more strengthened in self.
- Where you look affects how you feel.
- Where you look affects how you feel.
With Brainspotting we use an eye position to go inside to help us process maladapted beliefs and core wounds. - A brain spot is seen as an eye position that correlates with a physiological capsule that holds a traumatic experience in memory form.
- Your own system accesses the subconscious by paying attention to the body, exploring it to get new info.
- We are looking for internal files or “capsules” of time-oriented uncertainty/trauma.
- With Brainspotting, we are simply curious and we go into uncertainty to heal.
- The brain has a powerful way to “heal itself of its original traumas, given the opportunity”.
- We want the “thinking brain”, the NEOCORTEX to go OFFLINE and the “body brain”, the SUBCORTEX to engage.
Psychotherapy is only likely to be successful LONGTERM when the SUBCORTEX system (Allocortex – deeper in limbic system & the Agranular isocortex- the third eye) is accessed and regulated.
